Overview
The Amazon Operations Corporate Employee Relations (ER) & Field Enablement team supports Amazon operations corporate employees and field leaders. We are seeking an Employee Relations Principal to join our team.
Key Responsibilities- Risk Detection and Mitigation: apply employee relations expertise to identify trends and challenges, predict and mitigate risk, and develop solution-focused strategies and programs.
- Detect and Mitigate Risks: identify trends, gaps, and challenges; execute strategies to mitigate risks.
- Crisis Management: work reactively on crisis-oriented issues, exercising judgment and leadership.
- Project Management: independently design, own, and lead large-scale, network-wide projects that improve frontline employee and contractor experience.
- Analyze and Interpret Data: use data and anecdotes to develop narratives and recommend solutions; define and measure program success.
- Artificial Intelligence: use AI tools to analyze data, automate routine tasks, and improve processes.
- Communicate Effectively: produce high-quality written communications, present verbally to all levels.
- Collaborate: build relationships with stakeholders to share information and influence change.
- Problem Solve: work independently, persevere over barriers to drive resolutions.
- Work at Scale: design solutions from person-level to network-wide sustainable mechanisms.
- Deliver Innovative Solutions: challenge practices and generate creative large-scale solutions.
- Campaign Strategy: develop communication and tactical campaign strategy and lead execution team.
- Lead Through Others: influence stakeholders and peers to deliver results.
- Hire & Develop the Best: lead and grow the field employee relations team; may have direct reports.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in employee relations, labor relations, labor/employment law or equivalent; or Amazon experience with at least one year within Amazon employee relations.
- Experience producing executive-level written materials and presenting to executive audiences.
- Experience creating and implementing large-scale programs.
- Experience analyzing metrics to identify vulnerabilities and drive employee improvement.
- Experience in leading campaign response.
- Experience with in a distribution center, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting large hourly work forces.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced degree (JD or other specialized training in labor/employee relations).
- Amazon internal experience in Operations, Human Resources/PXT, or other functional partners.
- Independent judgment and discretion managing multiple priorities.
- People leadership experience including hiring and developing talent.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment, flexible, handle ambiguity.
- Excellent organization, detail-oriented, multi-tasking.
- Outstanding communication skills, public speaking and training.
- Strong accountability, judgment, decision-making.
- Handle confidential information, appropriate escalation.
- Build trust across diverse backgrounds.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
- Previous operations management experience.
