Director of Housing

Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs Operations and Student Life, the Director of Housing will be responsible for providing leadership and vision to the Bellevue College Housing department. Department functions of responsibility include residential life; conference and guest housing; occupancy management; academic success initiatives; budget and fiscal management; facilities management; and short- and long-range planning for additional on and off-campus housing.

The Director of Housing supports the operations of the Bellevue College housing department and the student life and leadership unit within the division of student affairs. Further, the position will support the institutional strategic plan through the implementation of the Housing operational plan and the Student Affairs operational plan. This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), student conduct officer, and member of the CARE team (Bellevue College's Behavior Intervention Team).

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Position Salary Range: $97,166/year - $140,891/year The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $108,097/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule. We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which means that you are not eligible for overtime pay.

About the Department Bellevue College Housing serves residents that live in suite and apartment style housing. The department consists of multiple full-time staff members, student staff, and hourly staff. The campus residence hall is open year-round and supports conference and short-term guest housing. As part of the Student Affairs division, Housing is focused on centering student needs in its operational protocols and fostering a community focused on assisting students to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education, student personnel administration or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in student housing operations.
  • One (1) year of experience supervising staff.
  • Experience with fiscal management (billing, budget development, expenditure and revenue tracking, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting diverse students, faculty, staff, and other community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Effective verbal, written, and customer service communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills including ethics and integrity, problem-solving, conflict management, and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work evening, weekend and holiday on-call duties, as well as emergency response to critical incidents in on-campus after hours.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification and completion of Title IX, hazing prevention and opioid overdose response trainings within 90 days of hire.
