The Manufacturing Production Supervisor II plays a critical leadership role in a high-volume, fast-paced food manufacturing facility. This position oversees production workers, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, drives operational efficiency, and meets on-time delivery goals. The supervisor also supports warehouse functions including shipping and receiving, working cross-functionally to maximize plant performance and deliver consistent, high-quality products. This role requires strong leadership skills, production floor experience, and the ability to oversee a diverse, unionized workforce.
The supervisor works closely with production, quality, warehouse, and maintenance teams to maintain operational excellence.
Production Leadership (80%)
- Lead, coach, and supervise production workers in a 24/7 food manufacturing environment.
- Oversee daily operations including scheduling, task assignment, efficiency monitoring, and real-time troubleshooting.
- Ensure production of safe, high-quality food products in compliance with Federal, State, and Safeway (Albertsons) regulations.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles to improve production efficiencies and eliminate waste.
- Develop and drive short-term and long-term plant goals and production action plans.
- Promote cost-saving initiatives and process/efficiency improvements.
Shipping & Receiving Support (20%)
- Overlap responsibilities with warehouse operations.
- Assist with receiving, staging, inventory movement, and outbound shipments.
- Support alignment between production output and warehouse logistics.
Regulatory & Safety
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, and other applicable regulations.
- Ensure adherence to facility safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
- Support audits and compliance reviews as required.
Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and plant leadership to solve operational challenges.
- Foster a work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate performance expectations and provide coaching and development to employees.
Technology & Reporting
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other plant applications to track, monitor, and report on production metrics.
- Leverage new technology and automation to optimize plant efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree preferred (manager will consider relevant work experience in place of degree).
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership/supervisory experience in a production environment.
- 1+ year of Lean Manufacturing experience required.
- Food manufacturing experience highly preferred.
- Experience leading a unionized workforce strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to manage, coach, and develop employees.
- Must be willing to work scheduled hours, including weekends.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to learn additional systems/applications.
