At the entry level, you learn the product line, manufacturing processes, and production philosophy while operating designated workstations within required cycle times. As you advance, you take on more complex sub-assemblies, use a full range of hand and power-assisted tools, and eventually become proficient at every workstation, reading blueprints and schematics, identifying production issues, and helping train new team members.
Responsibilities- Learn the product line, manufacturing processes, and production philosophy and apply this knowledge to daily tasks.
- Operate assigned workstations and complete tasks within required cycle times while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Assemble equipment and components that may contain up to 12 pieces, including structures, fittings, brackets, and bolts.
- Perform sub-assemblies within specified tolerances and complete assemblies that require multiple sub-steps.
- Use common hand tools, handheld power tools, fabricating equipment, and portable air tools such as ratchets to complete production tasks.
- Read and interpret detailed written and oral instructions to perform repetitive and precise production activities.
- Measure, record, and verify detailed measurements, counts, distances, and times to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Apply principles of safety, continuous quality improvement, and just-in-time production in daily work.
- Progress toward the ability to perform satisfactorily at all workstations as skills and experience increase.
- Develop the capability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to guide assembly and troubleshoot issues.
- Identify straightforward production problems and take appropriate steps to resolve them or elevate as needed.
- Support and help instruct new employees once proficient at all workstations, sharing best practices and safe work habits.
- Handle, lift, pull, push, and guide materials and products weighing 20–50 pounds on a continuous basis and 50–100 pounds on a recurring basis using proper techniques.
- Maintain a strong orientation toward quality, safety, and continuous improvement in all tasks.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment, contributing to production goals and schedules.
- Perform loading and unloading tasks, support warehouse and production operations, and assist with painting and related activities as needed.
- Safely operate or support the operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, where required and trained.
- Basic understanding of assembly processes sufficient to organize, examine, and assemble equipment containing up to 12 pieces of material such as structures, fittings, brackets, and bolts.
- Basic knowledge of common hand tools, handheld power tools, fabricating equipment, and portable air tools such as ratchets.
- Ability to perform the various aspects of the job across different workstations as skills develop.
- Sufficient reasoning ability to understand detailed, repetitive written and oral instructions and solve straightforward, immediate problems.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations and accurately read and record detailed measurements, counts, distances, and times.
- Ability to learn and understand safety practices, continuous quality improvement, and just-in-time production within a reasonable period of time.
- Ambulatory ability to walk, stand, reach, stoop, bend, and crawl on a continuous basis.
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and guide medium-weight objects (20–50 pounds) on a continuous basis and heavy-weight objects (50–100 pounds) on a recurring basis.
- Sufficient hand-arm-eye coordination to guide objects into specific placement or alignment, make intricate connections, and take precise measurements.
- Strong orientation toward quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
