Part-time, Temporary Community Engagement Organizers

Pacific County Voices Uniting (PCVU) is hiring part-time, temporary Community Engagement Organizers in Pacific County. The Community Engagement Organizers will be valued members of the PCVU Team and report to the Lead Organizer and Director of Organizing. These positions will work on average 20 hours per week within the pay range of $20-$25 per hour depending on previous experience. Depending on FTE, employees will receive up to 4.3 hours of sick leave every month.

Position Responsibilities Community Engagement and Training
  • Engage in a range of preferred communication methods/styles with people. Communication may occur via block parties, phone banks, door to door canvassing, house visits and other community engagement activities.
  • Provide trauma-informed care with a harm reduction lens to assist community members in successful navigation of voting processes and member recruitment.
  • Collaborate on the creation, distribution, and translation of culturally-relevant voter engagement and education materials.
  • Prioritize relationship building and grassroots organizing.
  • Track community contacts to meet reporting requirements of program activities.
  • Represent PCVU purpose and values in all spaces.
  • Work with Community Partners in creating awareness about engagement efforts.
  • Assist with developing messaging for program activities.
  • Create new partnerships and collaborations among various community groups.
Organization
  • Help maintain script and survey responses for reporting requirements.
  • Help shape and plan community engagement strategies and activities.
  • Model organizational culture of learning, growth, and evolvement.
  • Assist when advised to advocate for policies on the local, state, and federal level.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned or as the organization continues to grow and develop.
Working Conditions

These positions will require a mix of indoor and outdoor, physical and stationary work. Community Engagement Organizers will need to have a vehicle or reliable transportation to fulfill required job responsibilities. If using a personal vehicle, State law requires the owner/operator to have a current Driver’s license and auto insurance.

Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience with community organizing, civic engagement, voter education and Get Out The Vote (GOTV).
  • Building respectful and culturally responsive rapport with diverse groups including community members with lived experience.
  • Works well in an ever-changing environment where creativity and spontaneity are encouraged and sometimes required.
  • Ability to understand and speak at least one of the many languages spoken within Pacific County; for example, Spanish, Laotian, Vietnamese etc…
