Job Overview

RN Clinical Instructor (part‑time) - Inpatient Psychiatric (Child and Adolescent) Unit (260000BL). The unit is a 12‑bed child psychiatry unit for ages 3‑13 and a 14‑bed adolescent psychiatry unit for ages 14‑17. Both units provide short‑term, crisis intervention and stabilization with an average length of stay of three to seven days. Treatment includes psychiatric, psychological, medical and family‑focused services in a supportive environment.

• Serve as the clinical orientation leader for nursing clinical fellows.
• Provide hands‑on direct care and teaching to patients, families and nursing fellows.
• Supervise nursing clinical fellows’ activities and direct patient assignments.
• Develop individualized education plans and discuss learning objectives with each orientee.
• Use adult learning principles to facilitate education and competency training for the unit.
• Identify patient and family educational needs and plan patient care assignments.
• Arrange additional clinical experiences (e.g., clinics, operating rooms, cath lab) for fellows as appropriate.
• Participate in patient and family counselling, discharge planning, and post‑conference facilitation.
• Model professional behavior and promote a culture of patient safety, including reporting unsafe actions and practicing Stop, Think, Act, Review.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to meet quality and safety objectives.

• Minimum Education: BSN (required)
• Minimum
  
  Work Experience:
  
  5 years nursing experience; experience caring for children preferred.
• Skills &
  
  Competencies:
  
  Strong communication, adult education techniques, patient education, clinical supervision, and safety advocacy.
• Knowledge of legal scope of practice, nursing standards, CNMC policies, and applicable regulations.
