This classification is responsible for monitoring, coordinating activities, arranging, conducting, and maintaining documentation for drug screenings. Responsibilities include providing assistance to Probation Officers, contacting clients, scheduling activities, collecting, disposing, and maintaining records of urine specimens, conducting drug screenings, maintaining inventory of testing supplies and equipment, testifying in court, reporting and documenting testing results, ensuring procedures are followed, and providing training on documentation.
Job Duties- Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in criminal justice, medical/laboratory, or a related area.
- One year of experience as a drug technician or related position.
- All educational credits from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior substance abuse or chemical testing training and experience working with the offender population.
- Drug screening and chemical testing methodology.
- Safe work methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable testing equipment.
- Recordkeeping and inventory management principles.
- Proficiency with computer and related software applications.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, and others.
Incumbents may be exposed to fumes, odors, poor ventilation, hazardous materials (chemicals, blood, and other body fluids), and challenging environmental conditions.
Light work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible constant force. Requires use of arm and/or leg controls and exertion greater than for sedentary work.
