Overview
The Cashier/Back Up Person In Charge provides and models excellent, professional customer service. They accurately and efficiently process orders and payments at the register and are responsible for store closing duties, supervising the front end and overseeing the entire store as assigned.

Job Responsibilities
- Model and provide excellent, professional customer service
- Accurately and efficiently scan and key items into the register
- Receive and process all payments according to PCC standards
- Perform basic math skills and proficiency at 10‑key
- Communicate effectively about PCC’s membership and programs
- Handle merchandise returns in a friendly manner
- Bag groceries according to PCC bagging guidelines
- Maintain orderly appearance of the register area
- Ensure that department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met
- When acting in the PIC capacity, supervise the front end and oversee the entire store, ensuring all PCC policies and procedures are followed
- Handle security issues carefully and responsibly
- Protect the safety of staff and customers and the security of PCC property
- Handle daily use and any problems with equipment properly and ensure adherence to store standards
- Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
- Available to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
- Ability to operate an electronic register
- Must demonstrate basic math skills, ability to handle money accurately, and proficiency at 10‑key
- Excellent attention to detail, multitasking skills, and organizational skills required
- Previous retail or public customer contact experience desired; background in cashiering and retail grocery industry preferred
- Must meet physical demands of the position, including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and lifting 10‑40 lbs
- Excellent leadership, teambuilding, and communication skills
- A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
- If hired into this role, a CPR/First Aid Certification is required (paid for by PCC)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Additional $1.25/hour Night Differential when applicable
