Retail Clerk 1

Bellevue College is hiring for multiple openings in this role. These are full-time, 10-month cyclical positions.

The Retail Clerk 1 is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to our college campus and community, providing an essential function in the success of our retail sales, clerical work, food and drink preparation, and other duties related to operation of a retail store or food counter, while also working with the highest level of food safety.

Position Salary Range: $3,033/month - $4,002/month. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a 8 to 10-month cyclical position and actual annual wage will be prorated during cyclical periods.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

High school diploma or equivalent education/experience. At least six (6) months of beverage, food counter, or retail sales experience. Be proficient on the Point of Sales system and adhere to proper cash handling procedures and standards with a high level of accuracy. Must have King County food handler's permit within 14 days of hire. Demonstrated knowledge of food values and nutrition, personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions, care and use of cafe utensils and equipment, record keeping, report preparation, ability to work on several projects simultaneously, effective communication skills, effective customer service skills, experience working with diverse colleagues and students in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
