About the role

To provide scheduled & unscheduled Organizational, Intermediate and Depot level maintenance, inspection and repair of KC-135 aircraft at Fairchild AFB WA.

This role is contingent upon contract award.

Avionics Technician Mechanic II role involves installing/replacing/repairing avionics components; supporting electrical and avionics modifications requiring journeyman level avionics mechanic expertise.

The position is based at Fairchild AFB and may require domestic and international travel to meet Air Force mission needs.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and functional checks on KC-135 avionics systems including navigation, communication, radar, flight control, and mission equipment.

2. Troubleshoot and diagnose system faults using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, multimeters, oscilloscopes, BITE equipment, and aircraft-specific diagnostic tools.

3. Remove, repair, install, and test LRUs, wiring assemblies, sensors, antennas, circuit boards, and other avionics hardware.

4. Conduct operational checks, system alignments, and post-maintenance functional tests to verify airworthiness and compliance with Air Force standards.

5. Document all maintenance actions accurately in aircraft forms, digital maintenance systems, and daily maintenance/discrepancy logs.

6. Perform software loads, configuration changes, firmware updates, and equipment calibration as required.

7. Verify the integrity of aircraft wiring, connectors, and grounding systems by performing continuity, insulation, and bonding checks.

8. Support launch, recovery, red-ball, and quick-turn maintenance operations to ensure mission readiness.

9. Participate in phase, isochronal, and special inspections, identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.

10. Maintain strict adherence to technical orders, safety protocols, quality assurance procedures, and proper use of required PPE.

11. Coordinate with crew chiefs, electrical/environmental technicians, and maintenance control to resolve complex avionics issues and support sortie generation.

12. Support other duties assigned by the Site Supervisor or Shift Lead.

About you

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of aircraft experience on an Air Force wide-body platform (preferably KC-135) or equivalent 5-level qualification.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and possess a motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and Common Access Card
  • Must obtain a passport for OCONUS travel.
