Position Summary

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud‑native architecture principles, and ensuring alignment with strategic roadmaps. About the Team

The Customer Care Technology team develops advanced customer service solutions impacting millions worldwide. Comprising software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts, the team drives innovative Generative AI applications within complex enterprise environments. As part of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Systems, it collaborates closely with product, business, and UX partners to deliver measurable business value. The team emphasizes scalable, secure, and maintainable software design while fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence to support Walmart’s mission of helping customers save money and live better.

What

You’ll Do
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Apply cloud‑native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
  • Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
  • Build AI‑driven applications integrating ML components and intelligent automation features.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics.
  • Continuously improve processes, tools, and products through innovation and data‑driven practices.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven expertise in cloud‑native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying design patterns for secure, maintainable, and modular solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI/ML components and generative AI agents into software products.
  • Skilled in Dev Ops engineering and infrastructure tooling to enhance developer productivity and platform capabilities.
  • Effective mentorship and leadership skills to guide engineers and influence technical decisions.
  • Data‑driven approach to problem definition, metrics tracking, and continuous improvement.
