Software Engineer - Backend

Databricks is building the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform. We are looking for a backend software engineer to design, build, and operate micro‑services that power the Databricks platform.

• Design and implement micro‑services in Scala or Java.

• Build data pipelines using Apache Spark and Apache Kafka.

• Integrate with third‑party applications and cloud APIs such as AWS, Azure, Cloud Formation, and Terraform.

• Collaborate with product management and other engineering teams.

• Operate large‑scale distributed systems that handle terabytes of logs and exabytes of data per day.

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years of production level experience in Java, Scala, C++, or similar.
• Comfortable working towards a multi‑year vision with incremental deliverables.
• Experience architecting, developing, deploying, and operating large‑scale distributed systems.
• Experience with SaaS platform or Service‑Oriented Architectures.
• Good knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with software security and handling sensitive data.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes.

Local Pay Range: $182,400 — $247,000 USD.
