Senior Software Engineer; Fintech Platform

About The Role

In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the core architecture of our Fintech Platform. You will work in one of our three squads—Payments, Disbursements, or GRC—to build, optimize, and scale the backend microservices that drive our financial operations. This is a unique opportunity for a talented engineer who is passionate about secure, high-performance financial systems and has experience in building solutions that handle complex payment, compliance, and disbursement workflows.

• We are technology agnostic and value candidates with diverse backgrounds. While familiarity with the following is helpful, your willingness to learn and adapt is paramount.
• Front-end:
  React, HTTP, HTML/DOM, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
• Back-end:
  Python, Flask/FastAPI, REST APIs, Redis, SQL, gRPC
• Cloud:
  Google Cloud services (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Google Artifact Registry, Cloud Run, Big Query, Cloud Composer, etc.)
• Infrastructure:
  Kubernetes, Terraform, New Relic, Pager Duty

• Architect and implement scalable backend microservices inside the Payments, Disbursements, or GRC squad.
• Develop and optimize systems for securely collecting funds from users and ensuring efficient transaction processing.
• Design and implement robust services that handle the secure and timely disbursement of funds to beneficiaries.
• Build and enhance systems for user onboarding, KYC, and compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
• Design and manage infrastructure capable of handling millions of daily requests while maintaining the highest standards of security and performance.
• Utilize Google Cloud services and industry-standard tools to build and maintain distributed systems.
• Work closely with product, operations, compliance, and other business units to deliver holistic financial solutions.
• Mentor junior developers and promote best practices across the engineering team.
• Leverage user feedback and system analytics to refine and iterate on platform capabilities.

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Fluent or advanced English preferred. Upper-intermediate is also fine, as long as you can communicate clearly in a professional setting.
• Proven track record of building, shipping, and iterating on software applications, particularly in the Fintech domain.
• Solid foundation in algorithms and data structures.
• Experience designing and implementing web services, including REST APIs.
• Familiarity with architectural patterns such as Hexagonal Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, and practices like A/B Testing, Feature Flags, and Gradual Rollouts.
• Domain Expertise:
  Experience in building and maintaining payment systems, financial disbursement solutions, or compliance-driven platforms is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of security protocols, compliance standards, and KYC/AML processes.
• A passion for developing products that make a real impact on millions.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of emerging technologies.
• Excellent collaboration and prioritization skills in a team-oriented environment.
• Curiosity and/or experience in Fintech is a plus (equivalent competencies will also be considered).
• These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
