About the Role

Epic Games is looking for an Unreal Engine Software Engineer, Character & Animation to join our team in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality character and animation systems that are used across a wide variety of games and interactive experiences developed within Unreal Engine.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and performant character and animation systems within Unreal Engine.
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and other engineers to understand and implement character and animation requirements.
  • Optimize existing systems for performance and memory usage.
  • Debug and resolve issues related to character and animation systems.
  • Contribute to the overall architecture and design of the Unreal Engine.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in real-time character and animation technologies.
Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming.
  • Extensive experience with Unreal Engine
    , particularly its character and animation pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of real-time 3D character animation systems
    , including rigging, skinning, and blend shapes.
  • Experience with physics and simulation systems related to characters.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A passion for creating high-quality interactive experiences.
  • Knowledge of linear algebra and 3D math
    .
Nice to Haves
  • Experience with other game engines or animation software.
  • Familiarity with various animation techniques (e.g., motion capture, procedural animation).
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools.
  • Experience with large-scale game development.
