About Esper
Esper revolutionizes device management by redefining what it should be: a driver of business growth. With advanced and modern capabilities, automation replaces outdated workflows, re-provisioning becomes obsolete, and managing by exception transforms efficiency, resulting in increased efficiency, improved ROI, and bolsters security for device fleets of all sizes. Esper has been recognized as number 735 on Inc. Magazine's fastest-growing private companies in America, and 133 on the 2024 Deloitte Technology Fast 500.
Some of the world’s most innovative brands, like Google, Doordash, Taco Bell, Clinical ink, SF 49ers, and Intelity, rely on Esper to deliver exceptional device experiences. Esper partners with the leading mobile device hardware manufacturers, solution providers, and distributors globally.
This is an engineering role with a customer axis — not a sales role with a technical veneer. Solutions Engineers at Esper build things: integration tooling, validation frameworks, automation pipelines, provisioning scripts, custom device configurations, and proof-of-concept implementations that solve real customer problems. They also run technical evaluations, validate hardware compatibility, respond to security questionnaires, and advise deals on technical feasibility.
The team operates as a customer‑facing engineering unit — shipping code that directly enables customer deployments, building custom integrations, deployment automation, reference implementations, and tooling that bridges the gap between Esper’s platform and a customer’s specific environment.
ResponsibilitiesDay‑to‑day, this role involves using agentic AI workflows to accelerate development and research; validating and integrating OEM hardware into Esper’s platform; writing integration code and automation scripts for customer deployments; leading technical evaluations for enterprise prospects; responding to security questionnaires and RFPs; and serving as the technical point of contact for OEM partners and enterprise customers throughout the sales cycle.
QualificationsRequires two years of experience in:
- Using agentic AI tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot Workspace, or custom agents) as part of daily development workflows, including spec‑driven development and multi‑step agent orchestration.
- Debugging and troubleshooting complex technical issues across multiple systems, including reading logs, tracing state machines, and isolating variables.
- Writing and shipping code — tooling, automation, integrations, or production features.
- Communicating technical concepts clearly in both written and verbal form to non‑technical stakeholders and technical engineers.
- Working independently in ambiguous environments without detailed specifications or runbooks.
- Android/AOSP experience (device management, firmware, provisioning, build systems)
- Experience with MDM/EMM/UEM platforms
- Embedded systems or firmware development background
- Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, Java, or Go
- REST API design and integration experience
- Customer‑facing experience in a technical role
