We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of a portfolio of commercial real estate entities while working closely with property management, operations, and executive leadership.
Position SummaryThe Property Accountant will oversee the full-cycle accounting process for multiple commercial real estate entities, including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.
Essential Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned commercial real estate entities.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements.
- Process accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity.
- Record accruals, prepaids, amortizations, and allocations.
- Prepare supporting schedules and variance analyses.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support audits, tax preparation, and financial reporting requests.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Partner with property management and operations regarding financial matters.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting experience required.
- Property accounting or commercial real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
