Position: INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT - EARLY CHILDHOOD

Instructional Assistant - Child Care

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young children, helping with hands‑on activities, and keeping students safe, engaged, and supported throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help children learn and play: support homework, crafts, games, reading, and indoor/outdoor activities.
  • Assist the teacher: help with daily routines, prepare materials, follow direction, and keep children engaged.
  • Keep things organized: maintain attendance records, organize supplies, replenish classroom and bathroom materials.
  • Support meals and routines: prepare and serve snacks and meals, set tables, assist with handwashing, bathroom needs, and naptime.
  • Keep children safe: supervise play activities, monitor students indoors and outdoors, follow health and safety procedures, and provide basic first aid as needed.
  • Maintain a clean space: clean tables, dishes, mats, sinks, floors, and work areas to keep the classroom safe, sanitary, and welcoming.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Twelve (12) units in Early Childhood Education or equivalent coursework.
  • A great attitude and love working with kids.
  • Reliable and professional work habits.
  • No teaching experience or credential required; training will be provided.
Work Schedule & Benefits

Salary: Competitive hourly pay with annual step increases
Schedule: Part‑time; typically under 20 hours per week
Work Year: School year calendar; summers off
Location: School sites throughout Bellflower Unified School District
Benefits: Paid sick leave, holidays, and personal days for employees working ≥20 hours per week (pro‑rated for part‑time)

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to assist students.
  • Using hands and fingers to operate classroom and office equipment.
  • Seeing to read materials and monitor student activities.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
