TITLE:
CURRICULUM REVIEW TEAM: MATHEMATICS - PHASE 1
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Curriculum Review Team is to ensure that district curricula provide equitable, rigorous, and coherent learning experiences for every student. Grounded in the district's Vision of a Graduate, the team ensures alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and integrates current research and best practices.
For Mathematics, Phase 1, the team will complete a self-study to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for growth in the PreK-12 mathematics program, including curriculum, instruction, and professional learning needs.
OBJECTIVES:
* Assess the effectiveness and coherence of mathematics curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
* Ensure equitable access to high-quality learning for all students, including students with disabilities and English learners.
* Embed competencies from the Draft Vision of a Graduate (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and citizenship) into the curriculum.
* Advise and inform the creation of an action plan to promote continuous and sustainable growth.
CURRICULUM REVIEW TEAM MEMBERSHIP:
Team members will bring diverse perspectives and work collaboratively to complete Phase 1 of the curriculum review process. The team will consist of a representative group of PreK-12 stakeholders, including:
* Classroom teachers (PreK-5, one representative per grade level) and content teachers (6-12)
* Special educators (PreK-3, 4-7, 8-12)
* English learner teachers (PreK-5 and 6-12)
* Counselor
* Instructional leaders (curriculum specialist, team leader, academic coordinator)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Members of the Curriculum Review Team will collaboratively complete the self-study report in preparation for the visiting team (Phase
2).
Responsibilities include:
* Attending four (4) Curriculum Review Team meetings, 3:15-5:15PM
* March 26, 2026
* April 30, 2026
* March 14, 2026
* June 1, 2026
* Completing additional tasks outside of the contractual day, as assigned, not to exceed 9 hours
* Collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information after each meeting and collecting information for the next meeting.
* Assisting in the development of a report providing feedback on curriculum alignment, instruction, and equity.
* Communicating, updating, and facilitating teamwork with colleagues at each school through faculty meetings, PLCs, and department meetings.
* Participating in or facilitating classroom observations and learning walks to collect evidence of current instructional practices for the self-study.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be a current staff member of the Bellingham Public Schools
SALARY: $33 per hour stipend for meetings and work related to the review that occurs outside of the contracted day. This includes four (4), two-hour meetings held after the contractual day and up to 9 additional hours of assigned work to support the team's efforts.
