Position Summary: The Dean of Students at Bellingham High School is in charge of overseeing student life, student discipline, and school activities. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing support for students, addressing student behavior, attendance, attending extracurricular activities and sporting events, and administrative duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts DESE licensure required;
Principal/Assistant Principal licensure or eligibility preferred - Master’s Degree in Education, School Counseling, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience working with high school students
- Strong knowledge of child development, adolescent behavior, and social‑emotional learning
- Experience with restorative practices or similar positive behavioral frameworks
- Familiarity with MTSS processes and student support team structures
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and high expectations for all students
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for student behavioral concerns, responding promptly, fairly, and with a culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate lens
- Implement the school’s Code of Conduct through instructional and restorative approaches that teach and reinforce positive behavior
- Provide immediate intervention and de‑escalation during student crisis situations involving challenging behaviors.
- Facilitate conflict resolution, peer mediation, and restorative conversations between students and staff.
- Refer serious disciplinary matters to the Assistant Principal and collaborate on appropriate responses
- Provide active, engaged supervision of students throughout the school day and after school, including hallways, cafeteria, and other common areas
- Develop and implement individualized behavioral support plans and support students who need to make up missing assignments in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and special education staff

Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 per year
