TITLE:
Mathematics Tutor (19.5 hours) – 1 year only
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide small group, in-class and out-of-class instruction in Mathematics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with the classroom teacher and math specialist to provide rigorous, small group mathematics strategies, and skills instruction in-class and out-of-class.
- Administer and document formal, informal and progress monitoring assessments.
- Meet routinely with the math specialist and Intervention team using data to discuss students’ progress and needs.
- Responsible for creating and updating RTI plans and reports.
- Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, planning, and parent meetings.
- Willingness to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success, school spirit, and school climate and culture.
- Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom culture.
- Evaluate and recommend materials and programs beneficial for the intervention program. Incorporates technology when appropriate in tutoring sessions.
- Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
- Foster a positive relationship with students, staff, and family.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
SKILLS/ABILITY:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Google classroom, Google meet, and iReady helpful.
- Understanding of or experience using Bridges program and math manipulatives helpful.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience teaching Mathematics at K-6 levels per the Massachusetts Frameworks preferred.
- Completed at least two years of study at an institute of higher education, obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to assist in Mathematics instruction.
- Understanding of or experience using rubrics and standards-based units of instruction preferred.
SALARY: $30/hour up to 19.5 hours/week

PHYSICAL
WORKING CONDITIONS:
You are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion.
Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend, sit or stand frequently.
