ANTICIPATED OPENINGS
TITLE:
Title I Reading/English Language Arts Tutors
Anticipated openings at Stall Brook Elementary School for the school year (number of tutors TBD by available grant funding)
Up to 19.5 hours/week, subject to grant funding (number of weeks TBD by available grant funding)
One-year only positions
- Funding through the Title I Grant
POSITION SUMMARY:
To providesmall group, in-class and out-of-class instruction in Reading/English Language Arts
DUTIES:
- Assess, document, and instruct students according to diagnosed needs in English Language Arts and Reading
- Instruct students in ELA/Reading content, strategies and skills
- Document student progress toward improving their MCAS performance
- Administer Reading assessments
- Attend Title I staff meetings and Title I parent meetings/workshops as necessary
- Responsible for creating progress reports, helping with student assessments, maintaining student data, and assisting the Title I Reading/ELA Lead Teacher as needed
- Evaluate and suggest appropriate materials/programs/apps needed for the Title I school-wide program
- Incorporate available technology (such as iPads) in tutoring sessions and be responsible for the upkeep and safety of that available technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience teaching Reading or English at K-6 level in accordance with the MA Curriculum Frameworks preferred
- Understanding of or experience using rubrics and standards-based units of instruction preferred
- Experience with BAS, DRA2, DIAL IV and DIBELS preferred
- Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and ability in instruction in Reading or Writing readiness
