TITLE:
Math/ELA Tutor (19.5 hours) – 1 year only

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide small group, in-class and out-of-class instruction in ELA and/or Mathematics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Working with the classroom teacher and math/literacy specialists to provide rigorous, small group strategies, and skills instruction in-class and out-of-class.
- Administer and document formal, informal and progress monitoring assessments.
- Meet routinely with the math/literacy specialists and Intervention team using data to discuss students’ progress and needs.
- Responsible for creating and updating RTI plans and reports.
- Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, planning, and parent meetings.
- Willingness to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success, school spirit, and school climate and culture.
- Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom culture.
- Evaluate and recommend materials and programs beneficial for the intervention program.
- Incorporates technology when appropriate in tutoring sessions.
- Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
- Foster a positive relationship with students, staff, and family.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Google classroom, Google meet, and iReady helpful.
- Understanding of or experience using Bridges program, math manipulatives and/or standardized reading programs helpful.
- Experience teaching ELA and/or Mathematics at K-3 levels per the Massachusetts Frameworks preferred.
- Experience with BAS, Cloze, TOSWRF, and Running Records is helpful.
- Understanding of or experience using standardized reading programs preferred.
- Completed at least two years of study at an institute of higher education, obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to assist in instruction in ELA/Math.
$30/hour up to 19.5 hours/week.
ClassificationNon-Union.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONSYou are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion. Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend, sit or stand frequently.
REPORTS TOBuilding Principal or Designee.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESStudents.
