Gr. 6-12 Math Instructional Coach/Coordinator at Bellingham High School and Bellingham Memorial School
Support teachers and students in improving student learning and performance by providing leadership in the areas of math curriculum, instruction, and assessment in middle and high school.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning with curriculum planning and revisionPromote high standards and expectations for students and staff in creating a strong math learning environment and academic performanceIdentify valid and reliable data sources on student achievement, analyze the data to determine needs, strengths and informed instruction, including all tiers of instruction increase student growth and achievementFacilitate the development, evaluation, organization, and implementation of secondary math curriculum, assessment, and instructional programs to support all students in meeting and/or exceeding state standardsCommunicate curriculum and data trends to impact practice with all district stakeholdersDevelop, plan and facilitate professional development for teachers that supports evidence-based, differentiated practices within the areas of math content and instructionFacilitate and assist teachers in developing standards-aligned math units following the UbD backward design framework that plan for differentiation to meet the needs of all learners - intervention to enrichment needsCommunicate and work collaboratively with the leadership team to develop and reinforce common understandings and practices in math instruction.Works closely with the Academic Coordinators and Lead Teachers to oversee curriculum, materials, practices, processes, etc. at the middle school and high school levelsPlan and facilitate Math department meetings and PLCs, as neededOversee and effectively manage the math intervention program (assist in developing structure and schedules for interventions, lead data inquiry meetings and determine student groups, assist in hiring and training tutors, manage instructional groupings of students, provide evidence-based curriculum, serve as member of school's RtI team)Maintain a mathematically literate school culture (e.g. parent/guardian workshops, math events, professional learning opportunities, etc.)Assist with hiring of Math and Science teachers, as neededStay updated on current research and methodology related to curriculum and instruction in Math and Science content areas and disseminate professional information and materials to staffUse consistent and strategic coaching approaches when collaborating with teachers to design and implement high quality, technology-enhanced learning experience for all studentsCollaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources that enhance teaching and learningDevelop budget requests for Assistant Superintendent's considerationCommunicate, as needed, with students and parents/guardians regarding matters pertaining to math content, courses, etc. that are beyond the scope of the teacherExecute other duties assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and Building PrincipalsThe essential functions and/or duties listed above are illustrations of the type of work that is performed and is not an exhaustive list of the duties and performance responsibilities for this position. Qualifications/
Certifications:
Hold a Master's degree in education with specific coursework in math, preferredLicensed in Mathematics 5-8 and or 9-12 by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary EducationExperience teaching math at the secondary levelPossess leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and consultantsExperience with UbD standards-based curriculum development, best practices, program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, valid assessments and diagnosis and research related to learningIn-depth knowledge of the MA State Frameworks in the areas of math and scienceSalary: $80,000
