Master Stylist

The Master Stylist is responsible for engaging with guests, consulting on their hair care needs, and recommending services and products. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality professional services, meeting sales and productivity targets, and supporting store management in performance, people, and process areas.

• Performance
  • Provide hair services including design, cut, color, texturing, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing where applicable.
  • Meet or exceed a weekly average sales goal of $1,250 and productivity goals for hair services while contributing to overall store objectives related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
  • Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
  • Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services during work time and communicate related benefits to guests.
  • Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• People
  • Develop guest relationships through consultations and suitable recommendations.
  • Serve all guests, including walk‑ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a comprehensive store experience.
  • Build partnerships with peer and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Process
  • Know and apply Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures and state board guidelines.
  • Adhere to established service protocols for consistency and excellence.
  • Use booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
  • Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
  • Maintain outstanding store operational standards across salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, and break areas.
  • Follow the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
  • Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• Education
  • Cosmetology license required.
• Experience
  • Previous relevant work experience is required.
• Skills
  • Proficiency in current salon techniques across all service categories.
  • Ability to use equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
  • Demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Special Position Requirements
  • Work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Continuous mobility during the shift.

The pay range for this position is the higher of $15.00–$22.90 per hour or services pay under the Services Compensation Plan. Pay is based on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Overtime pay is payable as required by law and tips may be earned. Full‑time associates are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits;
