Inventory Specialist / Customer Service
This role oversees and performs administrative and inventory functions within a busy distribution facility. You will coordinate order processing, manage inventory accuracy, support shipping and receiving operations, and provide responsive customer service to internal teams. By ensuring timely paperwork, accurate labels, and reliable inventory data, you help keep the warehouse running efficiently and support a smooth flow of goods throughout the operation.
Responsibilities- Perform administrative operational functions for the distribution center, including printing and waiving work to the warehouse floor in a timely manner so order processing meets efficiency expectations.
- Oversee and execute inventory-related tasks such as cycle counts, item adjustments, and verification of stock levels to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Wave orders and assign or batch orders to material handling departments or leads based on operational priorities and workflow requirements.
- Print receiving purchase order check-in lists and ensure receiving documentation is accurate, complete, and ready for use by warehouse staff.
- Prepare and print inbound and outbound labels so that shipping and receiving teams have all necessary labels ready for use during daily operations.
- Check inventory accuracy at the bin location level, verifying both SKU and quantity, and investigate discrepancies as needed.
- Ensure that all shipping and receiving documents are properly completed, include required sign-offs, and are organized for reference and audit purposes.
- Track completed work at the individual level to provide operations management and supervisors with accurate information on performance, pace, and urgency.
- Identify and walk off parts that are not in their recorded location or are damaged before completing inventory adjustments, helping to prevent errors in stock records.
- Support material handling and warehouse activities as needed, including assisting with loading, unloading, picking, packing, and general warehouse tasks.
- Use RF scanners and scan guns to perform picking, inventory control, and tracking tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate with shipping and receiving teams to help ensure timely processing of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment by following safety expectations and reporting issues promptly.
- Provide customer service to internal stakeholders by responding to inventory, order status, and documentation inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Experience with inventory control processes, including cycle counts, item adjustments, and verification of stock levels.
- Experience in warehouse operations, specifically in departments such as receiving, put away, and picking.
- Ability to perform material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, order picking, packing, and general labor in a warehouse environment.
- Proficiency using RF scanners or RF scan guns for inventory control, picking, and tracking activities.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including preparing and handling related documentation.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, stand-up forklifts, and reach trucks, as required by the role.
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to identify key issues, evaluate facts, and propose practical solutions.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to work with warehouse systems and generate labels, lists, and reports.
- Knowledge of safety expectations and best practices within a warehouse environment.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting and physical warehouse tasks safely and consistently.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience tracking individual performance metrics and providing accurate information to supervisors or operations management.
- Familiarity with warehouse inventory systems and processes for managing material stock and storage.
- Comfort working with multiple types of warehouse equipment, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks.
- Previous experience in roles involving inventory control, material handling, and warehouse shipping and receiving.
- Strong attention to detail when checking documentation, labels, and inventory counts to reduce errors and improve accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional warehouse teams and communicate clearly about order status and inventory issues.
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
