The Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting work related to the operation of the Lummi Commercial Company (LCC) and its entities to ensure proper financial management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Reconcile daily bank account transactions with various vendor reports of the revenues and expenditure of the operations of the Lummi Bay Market, and any other entities of the LCC.
  • Routinely updating transaction data on excel spreadsheets for gross sales and fees associated with operations, including the uploading of finalized worksheets into the accounting software to ensure proper financial management.
  • Obtain monthly bank statements for all accounts, review, and perform monthly bank reconciliation of the various accounts associated with the LCC and its entities.
  • Perform timely reconciliation of various general ledger accounts as assigned.
  • Prepare and process routine journal entries for LCC and its entities' financials.
  • Manage LCC's accounts receivable: verifying incoming checks, processing cash receipts, preparing bank deposits, and ensuring delivery to the respective bank.
  • Review and approve ACH payments for accounts payable transactions.
  • Coordinate and work with various vendors to facilitate ACH set up for accounts.
  • Responsible for preparing invoices on behalf of the LCC and/or its entities for various vendors, including routine reconciliation of local credit invoicing and payment received.
  • Support and assist with the annual audit process.
  • Provide comprehensive customer service to internal and external customers by delivering accurate, prompt, and courteous assistance on assigned duties.
  • Travel off-site to attend training, conference, and meetings as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Familiarity with accounting principles, practices, and financial data analysis and reporting.

    • Willingness and ability to work more than 40 hours per week as needed.
    • Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests to be eligible for and maintain employment, as required by the LIBS Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.
    • Must pass an extensive criminal background check.

    Computer

    Skills:

    Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, etc., with ability to create customized reports by querying databases through Excel; proficiency in creating PDF files; proficiency in using a 10-key calculator.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Work unaccompanied, sitting/standing for long periods of time and without defined breaks.
    • Required to stand, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, and stoop, kneel, and sit for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Specific close vision abilities required by this job due to computer work.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    • May be required to work in a confined area.
    • May be exposed to moderate noise (i.e., business office equipment and pedestrian traffic).
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Education Required:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Education Preferred:
    Associate Degree OR Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

    Experience:

    Five (5) years’ experience in accounting or financial management; three (3) years’ experience working with accounts receivable, general ledger, transactions, preparation of journal entries, and account reconciliation tasks and duties; three (3) years’ experience in Dynamics 365 or similar accounting system; two (2) years working for a tribal enterprise, government or entity.

    Certificates & Licenses:
    Must possess a valid Driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements for tribal insurance.

    A combination of education and experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree requirement.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
