Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex circulation functions.
- Assist library patrons with general reference in person, via email, and phone.
- Assist students with technology support.
- Process library materials and equipment.
- Follow verbal and written direction.
- Work independently.
- Communicate positively with a diverse population.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of library technical experience or related activity (Library Assistant II) or three years of library technical experience (Library Assistant III), or satisfactory completion of relevant coursework, or equivalent education/experience.
Specific Position Skills, Functions & Physical Work EnvironmentWork with the public and maintain an integrated library management system, especially Alma/Primo. Technical processing of library equipment and materials is desired. Strong computer skills including MS Office, Internet searching, and database searching are required. Physical requirements include retrieving and filing materials on high and low shelving, stepping on a step‑stool or short ladder, stooping, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
Ability to drive book carts/trucks and work in a semi‑open office setting with frequent in‑person interactions and interruptions, handling multiple tasks and prioritizing competing demands.
Part‑time, temporary. Schedule varies and hours are not guaranteed. Work may be scheduled during regular library hours:
Monday‑Thursday, 7:30 am‑5:00 pm;
Friday, 7:30 am‑4:00 pm. (Saturday hours are not currently scheduled but may occur in future quarters.) Minimum availability Monday‑Friday, 9 am‑5 pm. Current hourly pay rate: $22.10 (ITRC Library Assistant II) or $23.23 (ITRC Library Assistant III). Benefits include paid sick leave per Washington State law and Initiative I‑1433, accruing at 1 hour per 40 hours worked;
