Western Washington University is seeking a Parking Guide to enforce parking regulations and provide customer service to the Western community.
About the PositionThe Parking Guide is responsible for enforcement of parking regulations at Western Washington University in accordance with Washington Administrative Code 516. The position is project-employment ending no later than June 1, 2027.
Responsibilities- Enforce parking regulations and educate the campus parking community.
- Provide customer service by actively listening to and answering questions on the field.
- Assist members through the Motorist Assistance Program.
- Support campus events and provide administrative support to the department.
- High school diploma.
- Positive attitude and prior customer service experience.
- Ability to manage confrontational situations with professionalism and self‑discipline.
- Ability to understand and apply regulations with equity and justice.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficiency with hardware and software systems for monitoring.
- Ability to observe and report situations, incidents, and conditions.
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk long distances, and operate a motor vehicle for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and lift 30 pounds.
- Must wear the uniform provided and maintain a professional appearance.
- Valid Washington state driver’s license for at least five (5) years, with no recent suspensions or violations as specified.
- Experience enforcing parking regulations.
- Background in customer service and handling difficult situations.
- Experience working independently.
- Professional driving experience and basic vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Familiarity with the WWU campus, reading maps, and giving directions.
All employees must comply with the university’s immunization policies, including proof of Rubeola (measles) immunity within 60 days of hire. Background investigations, including fingerprinting and a Washington State Patrol background check, are required.
Salary$3,864 – $4,678 per month depending on qualifications and experience.
Bargaining UnitThis position is part of bargaining unit B and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with the Washington Federation of State Employees.
