Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for an Assistant Professor of Polymer Materials Engineering based in Bellingham, WA. The role entails teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in polymer materials engineering, developing and maintaining a research program in the field, and contributing to departmental and university service. The successful candidate will create an inclusive and engaging learning environment, support student mentorship and research opportunities, and stay current in the field of polymer materials engineering through ongoing investigation and publication.
Qualifications- Strong expertise in Polymer Materials Engineering, with knowledge in materials synthesis, characterization, and processing techniques.
- Experience in teaching or curriculum development in higher education, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
- Proven ability to establish a research program, including securing funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- Effective communication, mentorship, and collaboration skills to support student development and departmental initiatives.
- A PhD in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
- Experience with sustainability in materials science or interdisciplinary research is a plus.
- Commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.
