Job Summary

The Associate Dean provides vision, leadership, and administrative oversight for the College’s Library, Learning Center (including Math, Writing, and tutoring services), Testing Services, and Multimedia Center. The role aligns academic support services, information resources, and instructional technologies to advance student learning, success, and equity.

Key responsibilities include strategic planning, program development, staffing, budgeting, and assessment across all assigned areas, in collaboration with faculty, staff, administrators, and community stakeholders.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Direct leadership and supervision of faculty librarians, academic support program managers, library & information program support supervisors, open education resources specialists, instructional and classroom support technicians, and testing center and library program specialists.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions
  • Leadership & Strategic Direction
    • Provide vision and leadership for Library, Learning Center, Testing Services, and Multimedia Center operations, developing and implementing strategic goals, annual work plans, and program priorities aligned with institutional mission, student success, and equity initiatives.
    • Lead program review and continuous improvement efforts while promoting equitable access to services.
  • Operations & Administration
    • Oversee daily operations across all areas, developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, and service standards.
    • Plan and manage staffing levels and resource needs; ensure compliance with accreditation standards and testing regulations.
    • Coordinate scheduling of services, activities, workshops, and instructional support.
    • Partner with Facilities and IT departments to ensure academic support spaces meet student and program needs.
  • Supervision & Staff Development
    • Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, high‑performing team environment.
    • Support and promote ongoing professional development for faculty and staff.
  • Learning Support & Instructional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with faculty and departments to align tutoring, academic support, and library instruction with curriculum needs.
    • Provide administrative oversight of tutor recruitment, training, and evaluation; support development of workshops, instructional materials, and learning resources.
    • Provide reference, instructional, or direct student support services as needed.
    • Ensure tutoring center services align with student needs and learning outcomes.
  • Testing & Multimedia Services Oversight
    • Provide administrative oversight of Testing Services, ensuring secure, equitable, and efficient testing environments and professional proctors.
    • Oversee Multimedia Center operations, including instructional technology support, media production resources, and access to multimedia tools.
    • Collaborate with faculty and IT to support evolving instructional technologies and digital learning environments.
  • Budget & Resource Management
    • Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for all assigned departments, approving expenditures and ensuring effective allocation of resources.
    • Manage budget funding provided through Student Services and Activities Fees for allocated tutoring services and other funded measures.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize equipment, software, and facility needs.
  • Assessment, Data & Institutional Effectiveness
    • Use data and assessment practices to evaluate service effectiveness, improve student outcomes, and support continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with the Assessment and Institutional Research office on reporting, accreditation, and student success metrics; provide regular updates to college leadership.
