School Psychologist
The following position is being posted for the school year.
Conduct psycho educational evaluations in accordance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE). Serve as a member of Multidisciplinary Evaluation Teams for students with disabilities and/or suspected to have a disability who may require special education services. Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans, when needed, for students. Support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach through consultation, academic intervention, and/or behavioral intervention.
Be knowledgeable or show a willingness to learn the National Association of School Psychologist practice model. Be knowledgeable of best practices with regard to implementing the problem-solving model for improving student achievement. Be knowledgeable of interventions and progress monitoring techniques for students demonstrating academic, social-emotional and behavioral needs. Ability to administer and interpret tests which may assess intelligence, behavioral, psychological, and adaptive levels of functioning.
Ability to interpret formative, summative, norm-referenced and high stakes assessment data. Capacity to interview, consult, and counsel school personnel, parents, students and other professionals. Participate as a member of multidisciplinary evaluation and manifestation determination teams. Serve as a multidisciplinary evaluation team coordinator in appropriate situations. Participate in Individual Educational Program Team meetings. Communicate special education evaluation results in a clear and understandable manner to parents, school professionals, and students.
Assist building teams with behavior programming for students, through Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), intervention fidelity checks, and student support meetings. Conduct Medicaid related tasks including regular billing for psychological services. Maintain accurate and appropriate student records and reports consistent with State and Federal Law. Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities not in conflict with Board policy, conditions of employment, and as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor.
Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement.
Master's Degree or higher in School Psychology from an accredited institution. Familiarity with multi-tiered systems of support and interventions is preferred. Full or preliminary certification as a Michigan School Psychologist according to the requirements as outlined under R340.1799e of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education Supplemented with IDEA Regulations. Experience working with students diagnosed with various types of disabilities. Support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach through consultation, academic intervention, and/or behavioral intervention within proper training limitations.
Participate as an active and collaborative team member to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for students and staff. Organize time, energy, and workload to complete work-related assignments with consideration of priorities among various responsibilities in order to meet timelines. Complete timely and accurate written reports. Be knowledgeable of local, state and federal laws and regulations affecting special education.
Preferred knowledge of Positive Behavior Supports and CPI strategies. Preferred knowledge of multi-tiered systems of support and effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities. Demonstrate professional maturity and high levels of discretion, integrity and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
