Atlanta Public Schools is looking for a self-motivated English Language Arts teacher to provide face-to-face instruction with students in the school building, with the ability to ensure student success through differentiated instruction. The candidate must be adaptable to changing school and district needs and be able to create and maintain a climate that promotes respect, tolerance, and peaceful problem solving for all students.
The teacher may also teach Social Science courses. This position reports to the School Principal and will be physically present in the school building location.
- Provide face-to-face instruction in person at the school building.
- Ability to provide instruction to both in-person and remote learners if necessary.
- Be responsive to changing school and district instructional needs.
- Instruct students through lectures, discussions, visual aids, and other effective teaching methods for student comprehension.
- Prepare lessons and outlines for class use that effectively cover the material.
- Administer various types of assessments to monitor student comprehension.
- Monitor students in the classroom, at lunch, and throughout the school by maintaining order and discipline.
- Perform administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and recording grades.
- Coordinate parent/teacher conferences to review student performance and other issues.
- Attend faculty meetings and training sessions.
- Minimum of a T4-Certification in Secondary English Language Arts OR Passed the GACE in Secondary English Language Arts (6-8) or (6-12)

- Salary Grade: T4 Bachelor - T7 Doctorate
- Salary Range: FY2027 Salary Schedules
- Work Year: 202 Days
- Strong communication and instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner.
- Student management and the ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner.
- Flexibility to adapt between in-person and remote learning environments.
- Knowledge of school safety and security procedures; excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Instruct students in an in-person classroom through lectures, discussions, visual aids, and other effective teaching methods.
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress.
- Administer and support state and local testing processes and policies.
- Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment to supplement presentations.
- Assist students who need extra help with tutoring and provide guidance for academic adjustment.
- Maintain daily classroom sanitation and order; monitor student behavior and performance.
- Maintain accurate student records and respond to communications in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to develop and revise academic programs.
- Coordinate in-person conferences with parents/guardians to review student performance and behavior.
- Attend in-person faculty meetings, training workshops, and educational conferences to maintain professional competence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by an administrator.
