Bellingham Technical College seeks a full-time, tenure-track Dental Assistant Instructor to teach and supervise students in a hands-on, career-focused program. The instructor will deliver classroom, lab, and clinical instruction in chairside assisting, radiography, infection control, and dental materials while maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities include curriculum development, student assessment, advising, and support for accreditation and program outcomes. The role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and industry partners to align training with workforce needs and support diverse learners' success.
Candidates should bring recent clinical experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student-centered, technical education.
Responsibilities
- Teach didactic and lab courses in dental assisting aligned with college and accreditation standards
- Provide hands-on instruction in chairside, radiography, infection control, and clinical procedures
- Develop, update, and assess curriculum, syllabi, and course materials
- Evaluate student performance, provide feedback, and support student success and retention
- Supervise students in clinical and lab settings ensuring safety and compliance
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry partners to align program with workforce needs
- Maintain program records, accreditation documentation, and outcomes assessment data
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and college initiatives
- Advise and mentor students regarding academic and career pathways
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain required licenses/certifications
