Job Description
Make an impact this school year by supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a resource room setting. This contract position is available from November 1st through December 22nd, covering a maternity leave. Work closely with a caseload of 10-20 students to foster growth, learning, and positive outcomes in an inclusive educational environment.
Key
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification appropriate for elementary grades
- Prior experience teaching in special education, preferably in a resource room setting
- Strong understanding of IEP implementation and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and fellow educators
- Ability to tailor instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with a range of needs, focusing on individualized goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure student success
- Monitor student progress, maintain required documentation, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Create a positive, structured, and encouraging classroom environment
- Utilize evidence-based practices and resources to engage learners and adapt lessons
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress
Schedule and Setting:
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- Resource room model—students receive targeted support while accessing the broader curriculum with peers
- Caseload of 10-20 students
- Position begins November 1st and ends December 22nd (maternity leave coverage)
