About the Position
The Engineering & Design Department maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in temporary teaching in Engineering (ENGR), Manufacturing Engineering (MFGE), or Polymer Materials Engineering (PME). Applications are accepted continuously for temporary, non‑tenure track teaching positions on a part‑time basis with occasional opportunities for temporary, full‑time appointments. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.
PositionResponsibilities
Teach Engineering (ENGR), Manufacturing Engineering (MFGE), and Polymer Materials Engineering (PME) courses as directed by the department chair. You are expected to be an excellent teacher, to be current in your discipline, to engage students actively in their own learning, and to maintain high standards regarding course content. Provide feedback on coursework and examinations, be available to students through regularly scheduled office hours in keeping with department policy, and collect assessment data on student learning.
Participate in accreditation efforts related to your teaching assignment and submit course evaluations on the standard University evaluation forms for annual review.
- B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering equitable and inclusive environments for all students, faculty, and staff with diverse social identities and backgrounds
- Recent, relevant industry experience
- M.S. in Manufacturing, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Successful teaching experience
