Job Description
Peace Health is seeking a Medical Assistant – Walk In Clinic for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Variable position. Salary range: $25.62 – $34.58 per hour. Hiring rate is dependent upon education, training, experience, and other factors. Hiring bonus may be available.
Responsibilities- Prepare patients for examination, treatment, or anesthesia interview and take/record patient history and vital signs.
- Prepare exam and/or treatment rooms; select, set up, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.
- Give injections, apply splints and dressings, and facilitate simple wound management under provider orders.
- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
- Transport specimens as needed.
- Assist in scheduling patients for tests, initial and follow‑up appointments.
- Maintain patient files, records, and other information, including entry of data into the electronic medical record.
- Provide phone screening of the patient to appropriate clinical staff and/or physician.
- Collaborate with a variety of personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Accredited Medical Office Assistant program that allows the caregiver to sit for the MOA certification exam considered.
- Medical Assistant apprenticeship considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in a medical office preferred.
Credentials:
- State of Washington Medical Assistant – certified licensure required.
- State of Washington Medical Assistant – Interim Certified credential accepted; caregiver must obtain Medical Assistant‑Certified (Non‑Interim) credential within 12 months of issuance of interim credential by the State of Washington.
- Basic Life Support required upon hire.
- National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of age‑specific principles of growth, development, and life stages; required.
- Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; required.
- Ability to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members; required.
- Proficiency with computer and office equipment; familiarity with desktop computing tools, multi‑line phone systems, and insurance billing preferred; required.
- Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks; required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; required.
- Understanding of asepsis principles as applicable; required.
Patient Handling: No greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment. Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment. Push/pull up to 45 lbs. force. Perform hands‑on CPR at least 20 mins using 100–125 lbs. force; frequency should be seldom or occasionally. Ability to move around area with frequent sitting. Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling frequently. Lifting (non‑patient) up to 20 lbs.

Environmental Conditions: Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles. Tasks must be completed in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual: Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
