Behavioral Health Clinician
Northwest Regional Council (NWRC) provides human services in Washington counties of Island, San Juan, Skagit, and Whatcom. NWRC is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician to deliver individual counseling and assessment services to adults, including elders and people with disabilities, in homes, community settings, and via telehealth.
A Day in the LifeClinicians manage a caseload of approximately 20–25 clients, with a minimum billing requirement of 55% of total work hours. Responsibilities include individual therapy sessions, supervision participation, timely documentation, ongoing training, and collaboration with other providers. Strong organizational and time‑management skills are essential to balance clinical work and administrative tasks.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary is on a 10‑step scale based on licensure:
- Associate or Affiliate Licensure: $34.89–$45.53 hourly
- Independent Licensure or Master’s level SUDP: $36.33–$47.40 hourly

Schedule & LocationClinicians work to develop a schedule that includes regular in‑person time at the Bellingham office and optional remote days, coordinated with the Behavioral Health Program Supervisor.
QualificationsEducation/Experience
- Master’s Degree in Behavioral or Health Sciences or related field.
- Two years of experience providing direct human services to clients, preferably in a community setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to assess client needs with attention to diverse cultural, historical, and personal trauma contexts.
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating mental dysfunctions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to prioritize, be dependable and reliable.
- Knowledge of aging and disability issues and ability to work with complex needs and multi‑system involvement.
- Capability to work independently with good judgment and minimal supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, community agencies, and the public.
- Positive, solution‑focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.
- High level of confidentiality.
- Computer skills, including use of electronic medical record systems.
- Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish or Russian) desired.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment criminal background check and provide proof of immunization.
- Valid, current credential issued by the Department of Health as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or equivalent field.
- An associate working toward licensure in one of the above fields.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a vehicle available for work‑related travel, and appropriate liability insurance.
