IT Support & Systems Specialist

Location - 100% In office in Bellingham, WA

Summary

The IT Support & Systems Specialist provides advanced (Level
2) technical support to end users while building hands‑on experience supporting the firm's network, systems, and application environment. This role provides dependable backup coverage for the service desk and assists the Systems Administrator with routine network, infrastructure, and application maintenance tasks.

This position is focused on hands‑on user support, technology maintenance, and helping the firm adopt new tools and systems. It is not a project management role: this person contributes to technology initiatives as a technical team member but does not own or lead projects.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, curious technologist who enjoys solving user problems, wants to grow into broader systems administration responsibilities over time, and is comfortable picking up new tools and technologies quickly.

Responsibilities

Service Desk & User Support (Primary Focus)

• Serve as an escalation point for Level 1 technicians and provide advanced troubleshooting for hardware, software, network, and application issues.

• Provide backup coverage for front‑line ticket queues and user requests during peak volume, staff absences, or as scheduled.

• Maintain ownership of assigned tickets through resolution, documenting root cause, resolution steps, and follow‑up actions in the help desk system.

• Provide day‑to‑day support to end users for hardware, software, mobile devices, printers, and standard business applications.

• Assist in developing and maintaining troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.

• Deliver a high level of customer service and clear communication throughout the resolution process.

Network & Systems Support (Backup for Systems Administrator)

• Assist the Systems Administrator with day‑to‑day administration of servers, workstations, networks, printers, and cloud services.

• Support routine network maintenance tasks, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and connectivity troubleshooting.

• Assist with user account administration, access provisioning, and device configuration in Microsoft 365, Entra /Active Directory, and Microsoft Intune.

• Help monitor systems, networks, and backups, and assist in identifying and resolving routine operational issues.

• Assist with patching, software deployment, and other routine system maintenance activities.

• Help maintain accurate technical documentation, system configurations, and standard operating procedures.

• Escalate complex infrastructure, network, or security issues to the Systems Administrator or outside technology partners as appropriate.
