Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager
The Bellingham facility, established in 1901, is the original site of Smith Gardens. The site sits on 40 acres of greenhouse and outside growing area.
This role manages maintenance staff in daily maintenance operations and projects. Review service requests, determine nature of problems, and assign work. Coordinate activities of on-site contractors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Proactively implement and maintain best management practices within the Maintenance Department, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventative/predictive maintenance.
- Ensure proper condition and operation of buildings, heating, irrigation, ventilation, environmental controls, and other general equipment and systems.
- Administration of storm water management program.
- Maintain equipment records and operating/parts manuals.
- Purchase and maintain appropriate maintenance parts inventory
- Timely generation and routing of purchase orders, invoices, and other administrative correspondence.
- Hire, motivate, train and develop maintenance staff.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Promote a safe work environment, upholding company safety policies and procedures.
- Comprehension of all areas of maintenance including electrical, heating, boilers, ventilation systems, irrigation and pumps
- Articulating ideas, providing direction, and fostering open dialogue among team members and stakeholders.
- Building strong relationships, promoting teamwork, and leveraging diverse skills for collective success.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all departments and staff levels.
- Professional, proactive and solutions oriented.
- High level of integrity and leadership in all circumstances.
- 4+ years of repair maintenance experience; strong electrical, mechanical and industrial skills with PLC, VFD, and HVAC experience.
- 3 or more years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Proficient in MS office and maintenance software.
- AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred
- Maintain applicable state licensure and certification.
- Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
- Willing to work flexible hours, holidays and weekends as required
- Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times in an environment that may be hot.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, testing equipment, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
$80,000 - $95,000 per year
