Maintenance Manager
The Maintenance Manager works under the general direction of the Director of Facilities and must be able to work independently. This position is the technical support for the Maintenance Department in that it provides support and supervision to the skilled trades maintenance staff, provides support to the other Maintenance Managers in their absence. This position is responsible for estimating labor, material costs, and developing project specifications for construction and maintenance projects.
This position leads one or two of the following subdivisions: facilities, electrical, mechanics, and grounds.
Required:
- Broad knowledge and at least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in the application of technical specialty in the field of facility or building maintenance, automotive, electrical, or horticultural field. Commensurate experience in construction, contract management, project management or advanced degree in a closely related field will be considered.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in the field of Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field.
- Supervisory or leadership experience.
- Valid Washington State driver's license is required.
- Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification after hire.
- Strong project management experience and the ability to manage technical projects from the initial bid through completion of the project.
- Must have a strong ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing with positive negotiation skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, analyze problems, and develop solutions.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems as necessary. Proficiency in MS Office suite for correspondence, report writing, budgeting, and preparing presentations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any and all applicable certifications and training required by regulatory agencies or the Port to perform the work.
- Broad knowledge of cost estimating, bid preparation, and specification writing.
The level of decision making in this position will impact the Port, Port employees, and the public. Position supervises others and may be the liaison between outside contractors and direct their work.
