About the Position

The Unit Manager for the Centers for Student Access, Community, and Intercultural Engagement (The Centers) is a critical member of The Centers team and shares responsibility for fostering an environment and delivering services that are accessible, inclusive, and equitable. The Unit Manager works primarily out of the Multicultural Center in the Viking Union.

Under the supervision and direction of the LGBTQ+ Director, the Unit Manager provides administrative support and programmatic support for The Centers and the departments in it:
The Office of Multicultural Student Services (MSS), LGBTQ+ Western, and the Disability Access Center (DAC). The Unit Manager will primarily support LGBTQ+ Western including supervising some student staff.

The Unit Manager furthers Western’s strategic goals in equity, excellence, and inclusion for our students. The position designs and delivers co-curricular programming and services supporting the self-determination, well-being, and holistic success of students of color, LGBTQ+ students, and disabled students, including students who hold multiple marginalized identities. Through development and delivery of programs, administrative and fiscal support, outreach, and broad advisement, the position supports positive identity development and builds intercultural understanding for Western students.

About the position:

The Centers Unit Manager is a one-two year project position that helps maintain services, programs, and events within The Centers for Student Access, Community, and Intercultural Engagement. This position primarily supports Multicultural Student Services (MSS), LGBTQ+ Western, and Disability Access Center (DAC).

The Unit Manager will support some of the duties of the LGBTQ+ Western department. This position will supervise or co-supervise student staff members and collaborate closely with professional staff from Multicultural Student Services.

This role is supervised by the LGBTQ+ Director.

2. This is a project-employment position ending no later than June 30, 2027.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in any Field
  • Three (3) years of professional experience working in programs related to access, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
