Located in the maritime hub of Bellingham, WA, AAM specializes in designing and building advanced, fuel-efficient boats for commercial, research, and passenger transportation.
Scope of WorkAs a Marine Paint Coatings/Technician, you'll apply protective coating systems that safeguard AAM-built vessels and meet finish and durability standards. This role supports on-time delivery by producing consistent prep, blast, and spray outcomes while maintaining a controlled, organized work area.
Key responsibilities:
- Complete daily assignments from the Paint Supervisor/Lead using verbal direction and drawings
- Prep surfaces; sandblast and apply coatings using approved tools, materials, and procedures
- Maintain and troubleshoot spray/blast equipment and power tools; keep the area clean and orderly
- Follow environmental guidelines and best practices during blasting and application
- Support other trades (Weld/Fab, Systems, Electrical, Interior) between paint jobs as needed
Required qualifications/skills:
- Experience with coatings application and spray equipment; marine experience is a plus
- Comfortable with confined spaces, heights, and respiratory PPE; able to pass respirator eval/fit test
- Familiar with sandblasting media and coating materials; able to read technical data sheets
- Detail-oriented, self-starting, team-focused; basic math for multi-part mix ratios

Because this is a safety-sensitive position, you’ll complete required PPE checks and stay alert to nearby trades, lift traffic, and ventilation needs. Work shifts are typically Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM, with flexibility for swing‑shift adjustments or weekend work when deadlines require it.
Between paint cycles, you may rotate into other shop areas for extended periods, helping keep vessel builds moving while maintaining the same clean, methodical approach.
