SUMMARY OF
JOB PURPOSE:
Under frequent supervision, the Mill Operator specializes in operating various mill equipment for steel pipe production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:- Follow all safety and company policies / procedures and promotes a safe culture.
- Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules and regulations.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Operator various mill equipment.
- Weld and splice pipe.
- Break down coils.
- Maintain housekeeping within all production, storage and waste areas.
- Follow all work instructions, procedures, and job safety (JSA’s)
- Properly identify (mark) pipe with the use of spray paint
- Effectively communicates issues to management
- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and performance of the essential functions
- Safely operate machinery certified to use – overhead crane, forklift
- Propose standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job safety analysis (JSA’s)
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
- Sub arc welding
This position provides support to the Mills department with the primary focus on equipment operation
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:- Must be able to use precision measuring equipment including but not limited to measuring tape and 100th diameter tape
- Basic math problems
- Must be able to operate a welding machine. Grinder and cutting torch safely.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Work hours and or shift may vary or change based on operational needs
- Must be able to work overtime as required including but not limited to weekend work
