The overwhelming majority of children and families impacted by the foster care system experience poverty. The projects the Skookum Kids Ameri Corps
* VISTA completes will contribute to these children and families having support like access to safe housing, medical attention, nutritious meals, and recreational opportunities, which will help them break out of the cycle of poverty. Every program within Skookum Kids relies heavily on compassionate, competent, and committed volunteers, foster parents, and donors. The Ameri Corps
* VISTA will build capacity by improving Skookum Kids’ volunteer and foster parent recruitment and retention efforts, cultivating business and individual donors, seeking event donations, and sharing stories of impact.
