Peace Health is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager – Operating Room for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position.

Description

The salary range for this job opening at Peace Health is $64.55 – $96.83. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

The position is responsible for providing managerial assistance to the Nurse Manager. This position is directly accountable to the Nurse Manager and is responsible for support in the following areas: hiring; staffing and scheduling; orientation; performance assessment; budget monitoring; maintaining and establishing patient care standards; policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates compassion, respect and caring while working within the scope of Registered Nurse Practice to provide individualized, safe and efficient care to patients and assistance to their families and visitors. Proactively implements measures to promote a safety climate on the unit, considering the inter‑relationship of people, tools, and environment.
  • Provides leadership, management, and communication skills to the department.
  • Assists the Nurse Manager in planning, recommending, and implementing clinical service delivery. Recommends policy changes which enhance nursing ability to achieve top quartile performance.
  • Assists the Nurse Manager with staff supervision, counseling, and documentation of personnel actions.
  • Assists the Nurse Manager with evaluating work performance and performance assessments.
  • Promotes, establishes, and maintains open communication.
  • Assists the Nurse Manager with budget monitoring.
  • Assists with the supervision and direction of the department Clinical Educator.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
  • Required:

    Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience
  • Required:

    Minimum of 3 years applicable nursing experience in an OR
  • Preferred:
    Minimum of 2 years supervisory/leadership experience in a healthcare organization
  • Preferred:
    Financial and budgetary experience
Credentials
  • Required:

    Upon Hire Basic Life Support
  • Required:

    Registered Nurse in state of practice
Skills
  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and time‑management skills (Preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal (Preferred)
  • Proficient in the use of computers including MS Office applications (Required)
Working Conditions
  • Lifting:
    Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.
Environmental Conditions
  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Some time spent on site in a medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
