Our Emergency Department is a 48‑bed Level II Trauma Center staffed by board‑certified emergency physicians on call 24/7. The RN provides professional nursing direct patient care and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver world‑class trauma and medical care during night shifts.
Essential Functions- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
- Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
- Direct and delegate care to other team members based on education, credentials, and competence.
- Maintain professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Participate in developing and maintaining hospital policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Required:
Degree from an accredited School of Nursing. - Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Required:
Minimum one year of recent emergency experience or current orientation, capable of providing independent care in the department. Demonstrated independent management of cardiac, complex medical/surgical, pediatric, and multiple trauma patients.
- Required:
Registered Nurse. - Required:
Basic Life Support upon hire. - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months.
- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum within 12 months.
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification within 6 months.
- Knowledge of age‑specific growth and development principles.
- Ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family‑centered work environment.
- Readiness to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy, and procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
- Patient handling up to 35 lbs without assistive equipment.
- Fine motor skills for manipulating medical equipment.
- Push/pull up to 45 lbs (e.g., medical carts).
- Perform CPR with 100–125 lbs of force (frequency may be occasional).
- Frequent sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling.
- Non‑patient lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally and 5 lbs frequently.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, airborne particles.
- Operations in noisy environment.
- Visual and hearing within normal limits; corrective devices permitted.
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
