Position: Patient Team Support (CNA) - ICU

Peace Health is seeking a Patient Team Support (CNA) – ICU for a full-time, 0.90 FTE night position.

Salary range: $22.99 – $34.50 per hour. Hiring rate depends on factors such as education, training, work experience, collective bargaining terms, seniority, and others.

Job Summary

Continuously exemplifies the mission, values, and customer service philosophy of Peace Health in job performance and in relationships to others. Assists the healthcare team in maintaining an efficient nursing unit through effective communication, organization, and professionalism. Provides patient care within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Details of the Position
  • Performs assigned tasks within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant and in accordance with Peace Health and general nursing policies and procedures.
  • Meets or exceeds customer needs as a patient advocate, exercises discretion in the management of patient information, and assures strict patient confidentiality.
  • Reports significant changes in patient status to the appropriate care team member.
  • Handles clerical duties on the unit, including accurate transcription of orders; coordinating patient admission, discharge, and transfer as applicable; coordinating patient registration, scheduling, and insurance authorizations; and providing effective communication linkage between all care team members.
  • Monitors, maintains, and orders unit supplies.
  • Promotes the safety and security of the unit through knowledge of fire, biohazard, electrical safety, infection control policies, disaster plan, and proper ergonomics.
  • Promotes a safety‑conscious workforce and maintains good housekeeping practices.
  • Within the scope of a Nursing Assistant, demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served, showing knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
  • Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
  • Certified Nursing Assistant experience (Preferred)
  • Unit Secretary or related experience (Preferred)
Credentials
  • Certified Nurse Assistant – Washington (required). Employees hired prior to October 1, 1997 may qualify with a Registered Nursing Assistant designation from the State of Washington.
  • Basic Life Support upon hire (required)
Skills
  • Working knowledge of computers (Preferred)
  • Good communication and organization skills (Required)
  • Flexibility, self‑motivation, and strong customer service skills (Required)
Working Conditions
  • Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs without assistive equipment; fine motor skills for medical equipment; push/pull up to 45 lbs; CPR force up to 100‑125 lbs; frequent sitting; bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling; non‑patient lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally and 5 lbs frequently.
  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles; ability to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
  • Mental / Visual: Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted); ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
