Assistant Nurse Manager - ICU

Peace Health is seeking an experienced and collaborative Assistant Nurse Manager - ICU to join our team in a full-time (1.0 FTE), evening shift leadership role. This is an exciting opportunity for a critical care nurse who is passionate about developing teams, supporting clinical excellence, and making a meaningful impact on patient care.

Salary Range: $64.55 - $96.83 per hour. This is an exempt (salaried) position

As the Assistant Nurse Manager, you'll partner closely with the Nurse Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a high-performing Intensive Care Unit. In this leadership role, you'll help foster a culture of clinical excellence, teamwork, accountability, and compassionate patient care while serving as a mentor and resource for nursing staff. This position is ideal for an experienced ICU nurse ready to expand their leadership journey and play an integral role in shaping the future of critical care services.

What

You'll Do
  • Support the Nurse Manager in overseeing daily ICU operations, staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining a high-performing nursing team.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and guidance to caregivers across the department.
  • Assist with performance management, professional development, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Help maintain and advance patient care standards, policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
  • Partner in strategic planning and implementation of initiatives that improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of safety by proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting best practices.
  • Monitor departmental resources and assist with budget management and financial stewardship.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient experiences and operational excellence.
  • Support and help direct the work of the department Clinical Educator.
  • Foster open communication, teamwork, and a positive work environment.
What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience.
  • Recent ICU nursing or management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Two or more years of healthcare leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Financial and budget management experience.
Skills for Success
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively coach, mentor, and support caregivers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications.
