Summary
Whatcom County Public Works Department, Maintenance and Operations Division, is hiring 10 full-time temporary employees for summer road work. It is anticipated that these temporary employees will be primarily assigned to flagging and other labor-intensive duties. The summer crew will work approximately full time for the summer season with start dates occurring in early May, early June, and late June, depending on candidate availability.
WorkingConditions
Work is performed in field locations throughout Whatcom County. Drives a motor vehicle. Works outdoors in all types of weather, traverses rough terrain and inclines. Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety policies, practices and procedures.
Work Schedule6:00 am - 4:30 pm, 4 days per week.
Qualifications- Must obtain a certified Washington State Flagging and Traffic Control Card before work starts.
- Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment and have a driving record that meets County standards.
- Background check must meet County criteria.
A valid flagging card is required before you start work. This must be obtained at your own expense.
