Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership:
Assign teams to activities, ensure coverage meets customer demands, redeploy as needed, help interview candidates, provide input on selections, connect daily to address challenges, give timely feedback and performance coaching, redirect problematic behavior, partner with ASM for disciplinary actions, encourage idea sharing, empower decision‑making, provide recognition, foster associate growth, identify relations concerns and involve senior management or HR. - Operational Excellence:
Empower and coach team to follow proper processes, achieve operational efficiencies, monitor and drive performance metrics, identify barriers to processes and customer experience, respond quickly to unexpected events, manage store power equipment safety, maintain safety/security/shrink prevention, conduct daily safety reviews, keep store areas clean and organized, monitor potential theft/security risks. - Continuous Operational Improvement:
Recommend operational strategies to reduce unproductive time, waste or product loss, encourage team involvement, analyze operations and reduce impact on customers. - Self Leadership:
Seek performance feedback, pursue self‑development, build collaborative relationships with cross‑functional partners, set example of adapting quickly and effectively to challenges and change. - Responsibilities Specific to the Front‑End Department Supervisor:
Oversee front‑end operations (checkouts, returns, overrides, till audits, PUIS Desk, product staging), drive excellent customer service, ensure adequate headcount, research shortages, handle register pulls, support Customer Service desk, perform payroll closeout, and other assigned duties. - Responsibilities Specific to the Back‑End and Night Operations Department Supervisor:
Oversee receiving, stocking, assembling product, controlling freight flow, area recovery, delivery staging; ensure backend operations do not impact customers, drive efficient product disbursement, keep floors clear, stock per planograms, drive safe delivery processes, manage overnight shift responsibilities. - Manager‑on‑Duty (MOD):
Provide full leadership over the store, drive engagement, customer service, staffing, and operational efficiency; walk store for coaching, ensure quality sales and service, staff specialty and pro areas, shift associates, manage call button responses, keep aisles clean, transfer non‑MOD activities to appropriate leaders.
- High school diploma or GED (general studies or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education)
- 5 years experience in a retail environment
- Experience providing direction or supervision to teams (with or without direct report responsibility)
- Experience supporting or participating in training, mentoring and developing associates
- Experience working cross‑functionally
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law
- Experience supporting front‑end or back‑end operations in a retail environment
- Experience in a customer service role
- Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility
- Experience in the home improvement retail sector
- Experience in a fast paced, dynamic retail environment
- Experience in a key carrying role with manager‑on‑duty responsibilities
- Experience using store computer systems (Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.)
$27.80 – $30.05 per hour (starting rate varies based on position, location, education, training, and experience).
